Massey urges cadets to promote Crime Stoppers at Harrison County academy

Lori Massey met with cadets at the Harrison County Law Enforcement Academy last night and urged them to promote Crime Stoppers to help their agencies solve cases more efficiently and conserve resources, a Facebook post from the Harrison County Law Enforcement Training Academy said.

The post said Massey, identified in the post as the group’s director, spoke about the role patrol officers can play in spreading awareness of Crime Stoppers and encouraging community tips. The post added that Massey presented a challenge coin to some cadets, noting it was frequently the first coin they had received.

Crime Stoppers is a community-based program that encourages people to provide anonymous tips to law enforcement to help solve crimes. Such programs are often used by police agencies to generate leads from the public and can supplement investigative work without large additional expenditures.

The Facebook post referred to the cadets as “the future of law enforcement” and asked followers to keep them in their thoughts and prayers. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
