Corinth police engage in officer-involved shooting at Farmington Arms Apartments

Corinth police were involved in an officer-involved shooting Friday at Farmington Arms Apartments at approximately 12:30 p.m., Chief Tucker said in a Facebook post.

Preliminary information indicates officers responded to a report of a physical disturbance, Chief Tucker said. One officer suffered minor injuries and was treated; the person identified as a suspect was transported to Magnolia Regional Hospital, the post said.

The chief said the investigation has been turned over to the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations. State-level probes are commonly used in officer-involved shootings to provide an independent review of use-of-force incidents, though Chief Tucker did not provide further details.

The Corinth Police Department is the primary law enforcement agency for the city of Corinth in northeastern Mississippi. The department and the state agency typically release additional information as investigators confirm facts and notify involved parties.

Details remain limited. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
