Carroll County man arrested on drug charge after search warrant
CARROLL COUNTY — Deputies with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office arrested 22-year-old Brandon Joseph Watt after executing a search warrant Friday, May 1, at a residence in the McCarley area, county officials said.
Officials said deputies found a large amount of marijuana, U.S. currency and digital scales during the investigation. Watt was taken into custody and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell. He was booked into the Carroll County Regional Correctional Facility, where bond was set at $25,000. Watt was released on bond Monday, county records show.
Sheriff Clint Walker credited deputies for their work and reiterated the department’s focus on stemming illegal drugs in the county. “Illegal drugs promote gun violence, as well as property crimes, and impaired driving,” Walker said. “We will continue to work tirelessly to stop the flow of illegal drugs in our county.”
Possession with intent to sell is generally treated more severely than simple possession under state law because it indicates alleged distribution rather than personal use. Search warrants are a common tool in drug investigations when law enforcement seeks to gather evidence at a location. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
