Lowndes County posts wanted bulletin for man sought on drug, weapons warrants

The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post that 34-year-old Jamal Dewonta Hicks has an active warrant and is wanted on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of a weapon by a felon.

The post said Hicks’ last known address was on Highway 373 in Columbus, Mississippi, but he is believed to be in the Pontotoc area. The sheriff’s office cautioned that warrant status can change and some warrants may no longer be active when viewed.

The post reminded readers that all subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law and asked anyone with information about Hicks’ whereabouts to contact the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office. To remain anonymous, tips can be submitted to Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 1-800-530-7151 or through the P3Tips mobile app.

Lowndes County is in eastern Mississippi; Columbus is the county seat. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
