Man arrested after truck burglary, meth seizure in Lee County

Jimmy S. Gable, 54, of Tupelo was arrested Aug. 17 after being involved in a collision with a small building in the Mantachie area and found in possession of a felony amount of methamphetamine, Sheriff Jim H. Johnson said in a Facebook post.

The post said the investigation began after a local business in the Tupelo-Lee Industrial Park South near Shannon reported at about 8 a.m. July 18 that a work truck had been burglarized and equipment used in the operation of a crane was stolen. Investigators obtained information that led to the identification of a suspect and a warrant was issued for Gable Aug. 14.

Authorities arrested Gable on the outstanding warrant and charged him with burglary of a vehicle and possession of methamphetamine, the post said. He appeared Aug. 18 before a Lee County Justice Court judge and was given a $75,000 bond for burglary of a vehicle and a $25,000 bond for possession of methamphetamine.

Both cases are expected to be presented to the Lee County grand jury in January 2027, according to the post. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
