UMMC honors anatomical donors at 2026 Ceremony of Thanksgiving

The University of Mississippi Medical Center honored anatomical donors at its 2026 Ceremony of Thanksgiving, recognizing the people who donate their bodies to science and medical training, the center said in a Facebook post.

UMMC said the ceremony acknowledged donors as educators whose influence reaches beyond their lifetime and plays a profound role in training the next generation of health care professionals.

Anatomical donation programs provide medical, dental and allied health students hands-on learning that cannot be replicated by textbooks or simulations alone. Medical centers and teaching hospitals routinely host memorial events to show gratitude to donors and their families and to underscore the ethical stewardship of human remains in education.

UMMC is Mississippi’s academic medical center, educating physicians, nurses and other clinicians while providing clinical care and conducting research. The center linked to a news article on its website that explores the personal stories behind a gift that continues to transform lives.

We will provide more information as it becomes available.
