O’Donnells give $9 million to expand pediatric heart care at Children’s of Mississippi

Priscilla and David O’Donnell have pledged $9 million to support pediatric heart care at Children’s of Mississippi, the hospital system said. The gift will fund expanded specialized services, strengthen long-term care and help more Mississippi families access treatment closer to home.

Children’s of Mississippi said in a Facebook post that the O’Donnells’ contribution is one of the most significant philanthropic commitments in the organization’s history and called the donation transformational for its pediatric heart program. The post linked to a University of Mississippi Medical Center news story for additional details.

Children’s of Mississippi is the pediatric arm affiliated with the University of Mississippi Medical Center and provides specialized medical services for children across the state. Pediatric heart care typically requires specialized surgeons, advanced equipment and ongoing follow-up, and philanthropic support can accelerate program growth and access.

The hospital did not provide additional operational or timing details in the post. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
