Sheriff assists University of Mississippi student with honors thesis
Sheriff Jim H. Johnson said in a Facebook post that his office assisted University of Mississippi student Eron Hendrix with research for her Honors College thesis supported by the Stamps Impact Prize.
Johnson said Hendrix conducted interviews with Jail Administrator Captain Partlow, medical staff member Niki Soderstrom, RN, and the sheriff himself. The post described the participation as a privilege and an honor to contribute to her work.
The University of Mississippi Honors College provides enhanced academic opportunities for students, and the Stamps Impact Prize supports student projects and experiential learning, often helping undergraduates pursue focused research or community initiatives.
Research that involves corrections staff and jail medical personnel can provide insight into local criminal justice practices, inmate health care and policy considerations that affect communities. Officials and students often collaborate on such projects to gather firsthand information and improve understanding of complex systems.
Details about the scope and findings of Hendrix’s thesis were not included in the post. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
