Jackson police investigate fatal hit-and-run involving pedestrian

Jackson police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run involving a pedestrian early Sunday on North State Street at Briarwood Drive. The vehicle involved was not identified, according to the Jackson Police Department.

Precinct 4 officers were flagged down at approximately 1:56 a.m. Sept. 6 after being told a woman was lying in the street. Officers found Pamela Ellis, 56, at the scene, police said. Ellis had been struck by an unknown vehicle.

Accident investigators were called to the scene. The coroner took possession of Ellis’ body, and her next of kin was notified, according to police.
