Oxford Police seeks PIO interns for fall semester
Oxford Police Department said in a Facebook post that it is seeking Public Information Officer interns for the fall semester, targeting students at the University of Mississippi School of Journalism and New Media at Ole Miss.
The department said the internship offers hands-on experience in media relations, content creation and public safety communications. Students interested in the opportunity should email PIO Breck Jones at bjones@oxfordpolice.net with a resume to receive an internship application.
Oxford Police Department provides law enforcement services to the city of Oxford, Mississippi, which is home to the University of Mississippi. Public information officer internships commonly give students practical exposure to drafting news releases, managing social media content, coordinating with news outlets and helping communicate during community incidents.
The offering may help journalism students gain professional experience and build portfolios while learning how law enforcement agencies communicate with the public. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
