Two arrested in Lee County kratom investigation, sheriff says

Two men were arrested after Lee County and North Mississippi Narcotics agents investigated alleged kratom sales and possession at two Lee County businesses, Sheriff Jim H. Johnson said.

Michael D. Brown, 54, of Brown’s Grocery, on Highway 371 near Mooreville, was arrested on charges of possessing kratom in violation of a Lee County ordinance and possessing an alcoholic beverage on a beer permit in violation of Mississippi Alcoholic Beverage Control regulations.

Eyad Fathi Ibrahim, 60, of County Line Store, also known as The Yellow Store, on Highway 348 near Guntown, was arrested on a charge of possessing kratom in violation of the Lee County ordinance.

The sheriff’s department said the investigation followed anonymous information about the sale and possession of kratom products at the two locations. All of the charges are misdemeanors and will go to Lee County Justice Court.
