Suspect in custody after woman shot in face in Pike County

Deputies with the Pike County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Ed Brumfield Road in Pike County on the afternoon of Sept. 11, 2026, after a report that a woman had been shot in the face.

The victim was taken to a local hospital and appeared to be in stable condition based on the information available, according to a statement from Sheriff Bryant Wally Jones. The suspect was in custody, and authorities said there was no known threat to the public at the time of the statement.

The investigation remained active and ongoing. The Sheriff’s Office said additional information would be released as it became available and as the investigation allowed. Jones also thanked the agency’s deputies and investigators for their rapid response and the suspect’s apprehension.
