The Byram Police Department and the City of Byram hosted an Appreciation and Awards Ceremony recognizing people who dedicated time and service to the Byram Blue Dawgs Summer Program.
Adult volunteers LaShunkeita Clark and Officer Zachary Hines were recognized for their dedication and commitment to the program. Youth volunteer Jordan Thomas, who was unable to attend the ceremony, was honored for his commitment to community service and contributions to the program.
Lieutenant Judson Magloire also received recognition for his dedication and continued commitment to the summer program and the community’s youth.
The ceremony recognized volunteers who could not be honored with the first group during the Aug. 27, 2026, Byram Board Meeting because of scheduling conflicts. Michelle Buckhalter and The Trophy Shoppe in Terry were also acknowledged for producing the awards.
Jon Ross Myers founded Mississippi News Group in 2013. Before founding the organization, he worked at The Daily Mississippian, The Marion Salute and The Southern Sentinel. A Mississippi journalist and writer based in Ripley, he received second place in poetry in the 2025 William Faulkner Literary Competition for "The Garden."
