Oxford man arrested on allegation he failed to register as sex offender

Benjamin Adams, 24, of Oxford, was arrested in Lafayette County after investigators determined he was allegedly living at an address that was not registered, according to the Lafayette County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators received information about Adams' alleged residence on Sept. 10, 2026. After conducting an investigation, they determined he was not living at his registered address, the Sheriff's Office said.

A warrant for Adams' arrest on a charge of failure to register as a sex offender was obtained Sept. 21. He was located in Lafayette County and taken into custody Sept. 22.

Adams appeared before a Lafayette County Justice Court judge on Sept. 23 and was issued a $5,000 bond. He remained held at the Lafayette County Detention Center on a Mississippi Department of Corrections hold for an alleged probation violation.
