The Oxford Police Department recognized women serving on its team in a post marking National Police Women’s Day. The department said the women serve the community with wisdom and compassion every day.
The department said the post highlighted only some of the women at OPD and expressed gratitude to every woman who serves there for the impact she makes. It thanked them for their work and said, “We’re proud to have you on our team.”
Jon Ross Myers founded Mississippi News Group in 2013. Before founding the organization, he worked at The Daily Mississippian, The Marion Salute and The Southern Sentinel. A Mississippi journalist and writer based in Ripley, he received second place in poetry in the 2025 William Faulkner Literary Competition for "The Garden."
