The Horn Lake Police Department recognized its women officers on National Police Woman Day, praising their service to the community and emphasizing that they uphold the same badge, oath and standard as their colleagues.
The department described the officers as tough enough for the job and compassionate enough for the people. It also used a lighthearted reference to their patience in working with others before saying it was proud to serve alongside them.
Jon Ross Myers founded Mississippi News Group in 2013. Before founding the organization, he worked at The Daily Mississippian, The Marion Salute and The Southern Sentinel. A Mississippi journalist and writer based in Ripley, he received second place in poetry in the 2025 William Faulkner Literary Competition for "The Garden."
