Michael Murphy promoted to K-9 sergeant with Olive Branch police

Michael Murphy has been promoted to K-9 sergeant with the Olive Branch Police Department. Mayor Ken Adams, the Olive Branch Board of Aldermen and Police Chief Carlos E. Garcia recognized Murphy for the promotion, according to the department.

Murphy was born in Memphis, Tennessee, and raised in Columbus, Mississippi. He moved to Olive Branch in 1999 and graduated from Olive Branch High School in 2004. He graduated from the Mississippi Law Enforcement Academy in November 2006.

During his law enforcement career, Murphy has worked as a Field Training Officer, Narcotics Agent and K-9 handler. He graduated from the Houston K-9 Academy trainer’s course in July 2023.

Murphy returned to the Olive Branch Police Department in 2024 after nearly two decades of law enforcement experience. The department said it was confident he would continue serving in his new leadership role with honor, integrity and professionalism.
