Greenville to host two appreciation events for first responders

Greenville will host two appreciation events for local first responders in connection with the nation’s commemoration of the 25th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001.

The first event, a luncheon hosted by Entergy and the Gerald Andrus Plant, is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 10, 2026, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Entergy Gerald Andrus Steam Plant, 200 MP & L Road in Greenville. The luncheon will honor police, fire, emergency medical services and other emergency personnel.

A cookout is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 11, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 532 Central St. in Greenville. The event will serve a meal and recognize local police, fire, EMS and dispatchers.

Both events are for first responders only and will take place on separate days at different locations.

Mayor Errick D. Simmons said, “Twenty-five years after 9/11, we still remember the heroes who ran toward danger when others were running away. Their courage reminds us that service is more than a profession—it is a calling. To every first responder in Greenville who answers that call today: we see you, we honor you, and we thank you. We will never forget.”
