The Landers Center hosted a First Responder Appreciation Lunch yesterday, according to the Southaven Police Department.
The department thanked the center for its generosity and gratitude toward first responders in the community. It also thanked the center for honoring those who died on 9/11 by displaying a Missing Man Table.
Jon Ross Myers founded Mississippi News Group in 2013. Before founding the organization, he worked at The Daily Mississippian, The Marion Salute and The Southern Sentinel. A Mississippi journalist and writer based in Ripley, he received second place in poetry in the 2025 William Faulkner Literary Competition for "The Garden."
