Greenville downtown revitalization effort focuses on preserving history and reducing blight
The Washington County Economic Alliance says Greenville’s downtown revitalization effort is focused on reducing blight, improving historic structures that can be preserved and maintaining the city’s history and character along the Great River Road.
The alliance said the work is also intended to restore pride in a place that reflects the community’s identity. It said people are beginning to invest again, describing that activity as evidence that confidence in the community can encourage others to invest.
The organization called on property owners, businesses, investors and citizens to invest in downtown Greenville and help shape its next chapter. It also urged the community to preserve the qualities that made Greenville distinctive while building a downtown suited to its future.
