Delta Dialogue in Mississippi focuses on civic engagement and youth leadership

Mississippi Action for Community Education, in partnership with Mayor Errick D. Simmons and the Mississippi Legislative Black Caucus, held a Delta Dialogue during Blues Week that brought together students, community members, elected officials and leaders from across Mississippi.

The discussion addressed civic engagement, voter education, voting rights, redistricting and the legislative process. Participants also discussed the importance of preparing the next generation to lead.

Participating students included students from O’Bannon and Riverside in the Western Line School District. Organizers also thanked participating legislators, educators and community members.

Simmons said, “When we bring our young people into the conversation, we do more than educate them—we empower them. The future of the Delta and Mississippi depends on an informed, engaged, and prepared generation ready to lead.”
