Toppers lose to Stallions in SSAC match in Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Blue Mountain Christian College’s men’s tennis team lost to Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College on Tuesday in a Southern States Athletic Conference match, the school’s athletics website reported.

ABAC claimed the doubles point by winning all three doubles flights. At No. 1 doubles, Adriaan Engelbrecht and Luis Lainer fell 6-1. Maj Langerholz and Shriraam Anbanantan dropped the No. 2 doubles match 6-1, and Pablo Cruz and Kevin Kotzé lost at No. 3 doubles, 6-3.

In singles, Engelbrecht played the closest match, splitting the first two sets 6-3, 3-6 before dropping a tight third-set tiebreaker 12-10 at No. 1 singles. ABAC secured the remaining singles points with victories at Nos. 2 through 6: Pablo Cruz lost 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2; Craig Blevins fell 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3; Kotzé dropped his No. 4 match 6-4, 6-2; Anbanantan lost 6-0, 6-4 at No. 5; and Lainer came up short 6-0, 7-5 at No. 6.

The Toppers will resume SSAC play at Mississippi University for Women on Wednesday, April 8, at 12 p.m. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
