Southern Miss falls to UConn 48-20 at Renasant Stadium

Southern Miss lost to UConn 48-20 at Renasant Stadium, as the Golden Eagles fell behind 27-6 in the first half and could not recover. UConn finished with 436 yards of offense, compared with 401 for Southern Miss.

Landry Lyddy came off the bench and completed a productive passing performance, throwing for 194 yards and a touchdown while connecting with nine receivers. His 10-yard touchdown pass to Jaylen Himes capped an 80-yard drive in the closing seconds and gave the crowd of 23,025 a late highlight.

Steven Robinson led Southern Miss on the ground with 72 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries. His 13-yard run set up his own 1-yard scoring plunge in the third quarter. Mario Sanders had seven receptions for 81 yards, including a 56-yard catch-and-run that set up a Golden Eagles touchdown.

UConn quarterback Kalieb Osborne threw for 214 yards and two touchdowns, while Cyncir Bowers scored on a 42-yard run. UConn's Anas Luqman also returned an interception for a touchdown.

Creighton Wilbanks made both of his field-goal attempts for Southern Miss, converting from 47 and 34 yards. The Golden Eagles converted five of 15 third downs and went 0-for-3 on fourth-down attempts.
