Ole Miss volleyball rallies past Clemson 3-2 in fifth-set comeback

Ole Miss rallied from a late fifth-set deficit to defeat Clemson 3-2 Tuesday night at the Gillom Athletics Performance Center in Oxford. The Rebels improved to 6-2, while Clemson fell to 5-2.

Jorda Crook led Ole Miss with 18 kills on .341 hitting, along with career highs of eight blocks and three service aces. Melia Johnson added a season-high 16 kills and seven digs, while Cameron Bradley recorded 25 digs.

Carly Paugh posted a career-high 10 blocks, becoming the first Ole Miss player to reach at least 10 blocks in a match since Payton Brgoch did so against Florida Gulf Coast on Sept. 14, 2024.

Ole Miss won the opening set 25-23, but Clemson answered with a 25-21 victory in the second. The Rebels regained control by hitting .545 in a 25-18 third-set win, before Clemson took the fourth set 25-18.

Clemson led 10-6 in the deciding set, but Ole Miss mounted a comeback. The Rebels moved in front 13-11 before the teams traded points, and an attack error by Clemson gave Ole Miss a 15-13 win and completed the comeback.

Ole Miss will have a week-long break before traveling north to face Memphis on Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 6 p.m. CT. The match will be streamed on ESPN Plus.
