Jackson State to host Tuskegee in W.C. Gorden Classic
Jackson State will host Tuskegee at 6 p.m. Saturday in the W.C. Gorden Classic at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Jackson, with the game available on SWAC TV. It is the second of three consecutive home games for the Tigers and the second straight year the teams have met in the event.
Saturday’s game will be the fifth meeting between the programs. Jackson State leads the series 3-1 and has won the past two meetings, including a 30-0 victory over Tuskegee last year.
In last year’s game, Jackson State limited Tuskegee to 109 total yards, including 24 rushing yards on 20 carries and 85 passing yards. The Golden Tigers recorded seven first downs and crossed midfield twice; one possession ended with a punt and another with a blocked field goal by Kazarius Bowie.
Jackson State enters at 2-0 after a bye week. The Tigers last played on Sept. 5, defeating Edward Waters 66-14 in the Hope Labor Day Classic.
