Delta State’s Hooker, Bircher earn Gulf South Conference weekly honors

Delta State women’s soccer players Avery Hooker and Kim Bircher earned Gulf South Conference weekly honors, with Hooker named Player of the Week and Bircher selected as Goalkeeper of the Week.

Hooker led the Lady Statesmen in a 6-1 victory over UAH at Delta Field, scoring two goals. The performance was the most goals she has scored in a game during her Lady Statesmen career. Hooker is from Tupelo.

Bircher played 180 minutes during the week, making 18 saves and compiling a 1-0-1 record. She made 14 saves against Union, the fifth-highest single-game total by a Lady Statesmen goalkeeper in program history.

Delta State is scheduled to return to action in Livingston, Alabama, against the University of West Alabama.
