Alcorn volleyball set for weekend matches at Texas Southern, Prairie View A&M
Alcorn State volleyball will play two Southwestern Athletic Conference opponents in Texas this weekend, visiting Texas Southern University on Friday, Oct. 2, and Prairie View A&M on Sunday, Oct. 4.
The Lady Braves will meet Texas Southern at 6 p.m. Friday at H&PE Arena in Houston. They will face Prairie View A&M at noon Sunday at the William J. Nicks Building in Prairie View.
Alcorn enters the weekend with a 1-11 overall record and a 1-1 SWAC mark. Gabrielle Harris is in her second year as the Braves’ interim head coach.
Rylan Jones leads Alcorn with 108 kills, averaging 2.63 kills per set, along with 67 digs and three assists. Courtney Carter has 98 kills and leads the team with 2.45 kills per set; she also has 10 assists and 13 service aces.
Texas Southern defeated Alcorn 3-0 in their most recent meeting on Nov. 2, 2025, in Houston, winning 25-18, 25-11 and 25-11. Prairie View also swept the Lady Braves in three sets in their last meeting in November 2025 in Prairie View.
After the weekend, Alcorn is scheduled to travel to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Wednesday, Oct. 7, to play Southern.
