Reeves thanks troops for Military Appreciation Month

Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves thanked service members and their families in a Facebook post, saying, “Mississippi supports our troops! Wishing all of our brave service members a happy Military Appreciation Month. Our state will always be grateful to you and your families. Thank you for your service!” Reeves said in the post.

Military Appreciation Month is observed nationally each May and is commonly used by public officials to recognize active-duty personnel, veterans and military families. Governors and other state leaders often issue proclamations, attend events and post messages of support to highlight the contributions of service members.

Mississippi is home to service members, veterans and military families who live in communities across the state. Messages from elected officials serve as symbolic recognition of sacrifice and can accompany state-level programs, ceremonies or community events designed to honor military personnel.
