Reeves joins Mississippi UPCI for annual camp meeting

Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves said in a Facebook post that he joined the Mississippi District of the United Pentecostal Church International for its annual camp meeting and found the experience “always uplifting.”

Reeves said, “God has blessed Mississippi, and it’s wonderful to worship and give thanks alongside friends,” adding that the gathering provided an opportunity for worship and fellowship.

The United Pentecostal Church International, or UPCI, is a global Pentecostal denomination that organizes annual camp meetings and other events for worship, preaching and community building. Such gatherings typically draw congregants from across a state or region for multi-day services and fellowship.

Attendance by a sitting governor underscores the continuing role faith events play in community life and public engagement in Mississippi. Reeves’ post highlights the intersection of civic leadership and religious communities in the state. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
