Mississippi orders flags at half-staff for Lindsey Graham
Flags in Mississippi will be flown at half-staff through July 18 in honor of U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham, a Facebook post said, adding the move was made “at the request of President Donald J. Trump.”
The post, which did not identify the author in the copy provided to news outlets, said Mississippi is “praying for the entire Graham family and for all of the people of South Carolina.”
Lindsey Graham is a U.S. senator from South Carolina and a prominent Republican lawmaker. Orders to fly flags at half-staff traditionally signal official mourning or recognition following the death or grave illness of a public figure, and such directives are sometimes issued at the request of the president or state officials.
The post did not provide additional details about circumstances leading to the half-staff order. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
