FEMA says final day to apply for Jan. 23–27 storm aid is tomorrow
FEMA says tomorrow is the final day for residents affected by the Jan. 23–27 winter storms to apply for federal assistance, the agency announced. Applications can be submitted online, by phone, through the FEMA mobile app or in person at Disaster Recovery Centers.
Disaster Service Centers are available in the following counties: Alcorn, Lafayette, Panola, Leflore, Benton, Yazoo, Carroll, Coahoma, Montgomery, Tallahatchie, Pontotoc, Marshall and Tishomingo. Officials encouraged residents to apply before the deadline and to bring any documentation required for registration.
FEMA provides disaster survivors with financial assistance and resources after major storms and other federally declared disasters. The agency said receiving these benefits will not affect recipients’ Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid benefits.
The announcement underscores the importance of meeting application deadlines to access available help. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
