Jacob Petree was promoted to captain and commander of the Criminal Investigation Division at the Picayune Police Department last week, according to the department.
Petree has been with the department for six years. His previous roles included patrolman, narcotics investigator and lieutenant in the special operations division.

He also serves as a firearms instructor and SWAT team leader for the department. The department said it is confident Petree will do a great job in his new position.
