Hinds County sheriff offers condolences after death of Claiborne County deputy

Sheriff Tyree D. Jones and the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office expressed condolences to the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office, the Port Gibson community and the family and friends of Deputy Terrian Bailey after his death from gun violence.

Jones said he saw Bailey in Port Gibson while attending an event honoring the life and legacy of former Sheriff Frank Davis. Bailey, dressed in a suit, helped block intersections, showed respect and worked to ensure the procession moved safely through the city.

Jones said Bailey demonstrated professionalism, humility and honor during the event. He said Bailey served his community with commitment and pride and that his sacrifice would not be forgotten.

The Hinds County Sheriff’s Office said it stands with Bailey’s colleagues and loved ones and offered prayers for comfort, strength and peace for those mourning his death.
