Yazoo County facility promotes rehabilitation, offers resources to inmates
Yazoo County Regional Correctional Facility officials say incarceration does not have to be the end of a person’s story and are promoting rehabilitation and support for inmates, the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.
In the post, Sheriff Jeremy “Bull” McCoy and Warden Jaqueline Morton said many inmates use their time in custody to reflect, make positive changes and get their lives back on track. The post also expressed a commitment to providing opportunities for inmates to strengthen character and, for some, grow closer to their Lord and Savior.
The sheriff’s office said it recognizes many people in custody will one day return to local communities and therefore must be given tools, resources, guidance and support to make better choices and become productive citizens. The post cited educational, vocational and faith-based programs as examples of steps toward lasting change.
Officials said the facility’s goal is to maintain safety and security while promoting rehabilitation, accountability and hope for those willing to work toward a better future. The Facebook post did not list specific program names, schedules or dates.
