Yazoo County correctional facility earns two perfect state accreditation scores
YAZOO COUNTY, Miss. — The Yazoo County Regional Correctional Facility passed state accreditation with two perfect scores, officials said in a Facebook post announcing the milestone.
The post said the accomplishment came under the leadership of Sheriff Jeremy McCoy and noted the scores apply to the state side of the facility, which houses inmates from the Mississippi Department of Corrections. Officials said they are working to secure accreditation for the county side as part of McCoy’s operations and tenure.
Officials said the county-side accreditation effort aims to ensure conditions and services for county inmates meet jail core standards set by the American Correctional Association. The post added the effort “was sabotaged from the start” but praised staff who brought the process together.
The American Correctional Association is a standards-setting organization that accredits jails and prisons to recognize compliance with nationally recognized operational and safety practices. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details become available.
