Coahoma County Detention Center earns perfect state health inspection score
Coahoma County Detention Center in Mississippi earned a perfect score on a recent inspection by the State Department of Health, county officials said. The announcement, posted on the county’s Facebook page, came on the heels of a separate kitchen inspection that also returned positive results.
The state inspection evaluated the facility as a whole and reflected its condition and operations, the county said. The post noted that a perfect score is rare and reflects consistent effort and attention to detail across all areas.
County detention centers are local jails that house people awaiting trial or serving short sentences and must meet state health and safety standards. State Department of Health inspections typically assess sanitation, food service, medical care and general facility maintenance to ensure compliance and protect public health.
County officials asked residents to join them in congratulating staff and others involved in the accomplishment. The recognition may bolster public confidence in the facility’s management and oversight. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
