Vicksburg police join United Way for Day of Caring

VICKSBURG, Miss. — The Vicksburg Police Department said it joined United Way of West Central Mississippi for this year’s Day of Caring, emphasizing the role of service in community policing.

In a Facebook post, the department said, “At the heart of policing is service, and opportunities like this allow us to connect with our community in meaningful ways that go far beyond emergency response.” The department added it was “grateful to United Way for the opportunity to partner in this incredible initiative and for their continued dedication to improving lives across our region.”

The United Way network commonly organizes volunteer-driven events such as Day of Caring to engage local residents and organizations in service projects that support health, education and financial stability. Those events typically pair nonprofit needs with volunteer labor and resources.

The Vicksburg department said the partnership helps build a “stronger, safer, and more connected Vicksburg.” This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
