Traffic stop leads to drug trafficking arrest on Hwy 49

The Rankin County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post that a traffic stop on Highway 49 resulted in a drug trafficking arrest.

The agency posted photos from the scene but did not include additional details about the suspect, the quantity or type of drugs involved, or the exact time of the stop.

The Rankin County Sheriff’s Office is the primary law enforcement agency for Rankin County, Mississippi, and frequently uses social media to inform the public about arrests and ongoing investigations. Highway 49 is a major north-south route through central Mississippi, and law enforcement agencies often cite such highways as focal points for efforts to curb the movement of illegal drugs.
