Sumrall police seek driver in hit-and-run at John L’s restaurant

SUMRALL, Mississippi — Sumrall police are asking the public to help identify the driver of a pickup truck involved in a hit-and-run Friday around noon in the parking lot of John L’s Restaurant, authorities said.

Police said the driver, who was a customer at the restaurant, struck another parked vehicle while leaving the lot before driving away. The driver is described as a younger white male, police said.

Authorities said the pickup is believed to be a dark metallic gray 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Crew Cab with a Z71 Off-Road decal on the rear bedside, chrome side steps and possibly a sunroof. Anyone who recognizes the truck or has information about the incident is asked to contact the Sumrall Police Department at 601-758-3531 or send a message through the department’s social media page, police said.

Sumrall is a town in southern Mississippi. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
