Southaven police seek Mercedes in hit-and-run that struck 9-year-old
Southaven police say a 9-year-old child riding a small minibike was struck by a vehicle Saturday, May 16, 2026, at about 2:57 p.m. in the area of Chesterfield Drive at Farmington N. The vehicle continued southbound on Chesterfield Drive after the collision, according to a Facebook post by the Southaven Police Department.
Police described the suspect vehicle as a black Mercedes, possibly an S550, with a black Mississippi license plate and tinted windows. The vehicle is believed to have damage to the front driver’s side bumper area, the post said.
Authorities asked anyone who can help identify the owner or who observes the vehicle to call the Southaven Police Department at 662-393-8652 or email tips@southaven.org. The Facebook post did not include information about the child’s condition.
Southaven is a city in DeSoto County in northwestern Mississippi. Police often ask motorists and residents to check dash-cam and home security footage in hit-and-run investigations. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
