Southaven officer receives STORM Certificate of Excellence
Southaven Police Officer Charlie Alexander recently received a Certificate of Excellence and two recognition pins at the Mississippi STORM Conference, the Southaven Police Department said in a Facebook post.
Alexander was presented a pin awarded to members of the 100 Club and a pin for Seatbelt Safety, the post said. The department thanked Alexander and congratulated him for his efforts to keep local streets safe.
Sobriety Trained Officers Representing Mississippi, known as STORM, was formed in 1996 to detect and apprehend impaired drivers, the post said. STORM trains officers in techniques to identify impairment and supports traffic safety initiatives such as seatbelt enforcement.
Recognition from professional organizations and conferences highlights law enforcement training that aims to reduce impaired driving and increase seatbelt use, both key elements of traffic safety. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
