South Mississippi Crime Meeting brings law enforcement to MHP Troop K

The South Mississippi Crime Meeting was held at Mississippi Highway Patrol Troop K, bringing together law enforcement professionals from across the region to collaborate and share information, the patrol said in a Facebook post.

Guest speakers included Lt. James Flake of the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and Kristi Johnson of the University of Southern Mississippi’s Forensic Science Department, the post said. The speakers delivered presentations the patrol described as informative.

The post thanked a group of local businesses that sponsored lunch: Hinman Chiropractic, Brenda Simpkins State Farm, Pascagoula Service Center, American Tank & Vessel and Camellia Property Group. It also thanked the Mississippi Coast Coliseum and Convention Center for donating concert tickets used as a door prize.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is the state’s investigative agency and the University of Southern Mississippi’s forensic science program trains students in crime-scene and laboratory analysis. The patrol invited businesses and organizations interested in sponsoring future lunches or donating door prizes to send a message for more information. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
