Smith turns himself in after Gulfport police post wanted notice

Richard Jermaine Smith Jr. has turned himself in, the Gulfport Police Department said in a Facebook post that included case number 2026-00058661.

The department had sought the public’s help locating Smith, who was wanted on one count of armed robbery and two counts of aggravated assault, the post said.

Police described Smith as a 21-year-old Black man, about 6 feet tall and 315 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. The post said he has a large build and should be considered armed and dangerous.

The department directed anyone with information to contact Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers by downloading the P3 Tips app or by calling Crime Stoppers. The post said tips must be submitted directly through Crime Stoppers to be eligible for a reward and reminded readers that all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
