Scott County deputies arrest man in Ludlow church burglary

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office said it arrested 44-year-old Johnny Earl Kincaid of 175 Joe Lee Road in Ludlow in connection with the burglary of Mt. Zion Church in Ludlow.

Kincaid was charged with burglary as a habitual offender, the Sheriffs Office said in a Facebook post. Investigator Zack McCurdy, Deputy Zack Holland and Constable Richard Prestage arrested Kincaid at his home without incident, the post said.

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office is the primary law enforcement agency serving Scott County and investigates crimes including burglaries and other property offenses. A habitual offender designation typically applies to defendants with prior convictions and can lead to enhanced penalties under state law.

The post also noted that the Rev. Jeff Stingley of Mt. Zion is a certified law enforcement officer. Church burglaries can have particular impact on small communities because of the symbolic and communal role houses of worship play. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
