Ridgeland police ask public to support officer injured in crash

RIDGELAND, Mississippi — The Ridgeland Police Department is asking the public to help an officer who was seriously injured when his vehicle struck a fallen tree on the Natchez Trace Parkway during severe weather on Sunday, April 26, the department said.

Cpl. Ryan Stacy was extricated from the vehicle and taken to a local hospital, where he is being treated for serious injuries, the department said.

Police Chief Brian Myers said the department is asking for prayers for Stacy and his family as he recovers. “The Ridgeland PD family asks for your prayers for a speedy recovery for Ryan and prayers for his family during this difficult time,” Myers said in a statement.

The department said Stacy faces a lengthy recovery and asked the community to keep him, his family and fellow officers in their prayers. Stacy was recognized as Officer of the Month during the department’s March board meeting, and support efforts for Stacy and his family are being coordinated through the 1828 Project of Madison County, the department said.

Ridgeland is a city in Madison County, Mississippi. The Natchez Trace Parkway is a federally managed scenic road that runs through the region. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
