Rankin County IT staff provide snacks to dispatchers during appreciation week
Brian Kittrell of the Rankin County Department of Information Technology provided snacks to county dispatchers during Emergency Telecommunicator Appreciation Week, a Facebook post said.
The gesture recognizes the role emergency telecommunicators play in public safety. Dispatchers answer 911 calls, gather critical information and coordinate first responders, often under high stress and with long, irregular hours.
Emergency Telecommunicator Appreciation Week is a weeklong observance that honors dispatchers and other telecommunicators nationwide for their contributions to emergency response and community safety. Agencies, local governments and supporting departments frequently mark the observance with events, outreach and small tokens of appreciation.
Support from departments such as information technology can boost morale and underscore interdepartmental cooperation in county government. The Facebook post did not provide further details about the snacks or the specific office that posted the message.
We will provide more information as it becomes available.
