Rankin County deputy changes flat tire for couple during downpour

The Rankin County Sheriff’s Department says it is privileged to have high-caliber officers after posting a photograph showing Deputy Richard Moore changing a flat tire for an elderly couple amid a heavy downpour on Highway 49.

The department posted the image on its Facebook page and said the action reflects the selflessness and dedication officers display every day. The post did not provide a date for the incident.

Rankin County Sheriff’s Department is the primary law enforcement agency for Rankin County, Mississippi, with responsibilities that include patrol, traffic enforcement and emergency assistance. Acts such as helping motorists during severe weather are examples of routine public-service duties that can strengthen community trust in local law enforcement.

While the photograph offers a snapshot of the incident, few additional details were released by the department. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
