Rankin County deputies win honors at Mississippi law enforcement conference

Deputies with the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department Motorcycle Unit and K-9 Interdiction Unit received honors this week at the Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers Association conference in Biloxi, the department said in a Facebook post.

Deputy Sentel Easterling and his K-9 partner were recognized for their performance in the working dog competition, the post said. Deputy Hunter Lewis was honored for his performance in the motorcycle competition, the department added.

The weeklong conference offers continuing training and competitive events for law enforcement officers from across Mississippi, providing opportunities to sharpen skills and share best practices, the post said. The Rankin County Sheriff’s Department is the primary law enforcement agency for Rankin County, Mississippi, and its specialized units carry out patrol, interdiction and public-safety missions for the county.

Competitions such as working dog and motorcycle events typically evaluate handling, obedience, detection and safety skills that departments say support operational readiness and community safety. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
