Police urge residents to report illegal dumping

The Police Department said in a Facebook post that it has received complaints of illegal dumping in the area and urged residents to help keep the community clean and safe.

The post asked anyone who observes suspicious activity — especially vehicles pulling trailers loaded with tires or other materials that could be dumped — to contact the Police Department immediately at 228-452-3301, the post said.

Illegal dumping can pose environmental and public health risks. Discarded tires and other debris can block storm drains, harm local wildlife and create breeding sites for pests, officials say. Local enforcement and cleanup efforts can also strain municipal resources.

Police said community vigilance plays an important role in preventing illegal dumping and maintaining neighborhood safety. The post did not provide further details about specific incidents. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
