Pike County leaders cover dispatch duties at appreciation luncheon

Sheriff Bryant “Wally” Jones, Chief Damian Gatlin and Major Jewel Hines stepped in to cover dispatch duties during an Appreciation Luncheon Tuesday, April 14, 2026, the Pike County Sheriff’s Office said.

The department posted that the senior leaders worked behind the dispatch consoles to show hands-on support for communications staff. The post was provided by the Pike County Sheriff’s Office Public Relations Department and included the hashtag #ServiceBeforeSelf.

Dispatchers are often the first point of contact in emergencies, handling calls, coordinating first responders and maintaining critical communications. Leaders taking on those duties during an appreciation event highlights the agency’s effort to recognize the central role dispatch personnel play in public safety.

The Pike County Sheriff’s Office is the county-level law enforcement agency responsible for patrol, investigations and detention operations. The department said the luncheon was intended to acknowledge dispatch staff contributions. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
